Private Pilot’s Licence

Cost $29,500* (Robinson R22, based on 50 Hr course)

A PPL licences allows you the freedom to fly friends and family to beautiful and remote destinations all over New Zealand.

PPL training consists of but not limited to:
.
  • 6 PPL theory exams
  • Tuition available if required.
  • Practical flying hours (50 hours minimum)
  • 20 hours Dual instruction
  • 15 hours Solo flight
  • 5 hours Mountainous terrain awareness training
  • 10 hours cross country
  • 5 hours advance dual flight
  • PPL flight test

Commercial Pilot's Licence

Cost $87,000* (Robinson R22, based on 150 hr course, includes PPL Practical Course)

A CPL is a professional licence which allows the holder to be employed (paid) as a Commercial Pilot. Helicopter pilots can be employed with businesses involved in Tourism, Agriculture, Oil, Gas and Mineral Exploration, Rescue Operations and Instructors at Flight Schools.

CPL training consists of but not limited to:
.
  • 6 CPL theory exams
  • Tuition available if required
  • Practical flying hours (minimum 150 hours total time)
  • 35 hours dual instruction
  • 35 hours Pilot in command
  • 20 hours cross country
  • 10 hours sling load
  • 10 hours mountain flying
  • 10 hours night flying with a minimum of 2 hours I.F
  • CPL flight test

On completion of the NZQA Approved Training Scheme, the student is awarded a Certificate in Aviation for their specific course type (PPL, CPL)

Advanced Training

Cost $15,900* (Robinson R22 based on 25 Hr C-Catagory instructors course)

Becoming a flight instructor is both a rewarding and challenging endeavour. The HCAT C-Cat Flight Instructor course will refine your flight handling skills and broaden your aviation knowledge.

Instructor Rating consists of but not limited to:

  • Instructional Techniques Course (CAA endorsed 4 days)
  • Principles of Flight Theory Course
  • Briefing Technique and Delivery Programme
  • PIC Hour Building Flight Exercises (as required)
  • Flight Instructional Component (FIC) 25 hours dual
  • C CAT Flight test (CAA Examiner Travel costs additional)
